Plans for the redevelopment of facilities at Thomson Park in Artarmon had been announced earlier this March.
Representatives coming from the Gordon Rugby Club, Chatswood Rangers Football Club, Northbridge Football Club, and Northern Suburbs Football Association met up with Federal Member for North Sydney Trent Zimmerman and Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney to discuss the future plans of redevelopment of the facilities currently placed at the park.
Zimmerman acknowledged that the sports field at Thomson Park is widely used for various events by a great number of students of the Artarmon Public School, as well as other members of the community of Artarmon. However, its facilities such as the changing rooms, storage areas, and public toilets were viewed to be substandard. This is mainly the reason why the facilities need to be upgraded.
Initial plans for the upgraded facilities include building new changing rooms, bigger storage areas, and more adequate public toilets. Plans on building a canteen at the park were also included.
By pushing through with the redevelopment of the park’s facilities, more people will be inclined to use the park. Also, everyone will get to maximize these facilities provided without having the need to sacrifice their comfort.
More work and discussion are yet to be done before officially lodging this project proposal. But based from the reactions and comments posted by some locals at Zimmerman’s Facebook post, they are very much happy and open to this initiative of redeveloping the facilities at the park.
